Compelling and Empowering Men to Christ

Emergency exists to serve and encourage, to compel and empower men in their relationship with Jesus Christ. We exist to build up the body of Christ by seeking a community focused on honesty and integrity. We desire accountability and relationship with God and with others. The heart of this ministry is to build a community of men who are compelled to seek Him as their treasure, and empower them to walk in their identity found only in the person of Jesus Christ.

We are facing an enemy who has enjoyed a good night’s sleep, a nice hearty breakfast, and even a personal escort to the most strategic position on the battlefield. Many of us don’t even realize that we are the ones providing those things. This is the battle plan that most men are using. We are giving the enemy every opportunity to defeat us. Bad strategy on our part, but it is exactly the kind of strategy the enemy uses to defeat us by allowing sin to control us. The enemy has deceived us and we don’t even realize we are giving him the exact position he needs to fire a shot and fatally wound us. Imagine the enemy as a sniper. One clear shot is all he needs to take us down. We have not only placed him in our camp, but positioned him in for the kill, but Christ has given us everything that we need for victory.

Men, it’s time to armor up, stand firm, and pray. (Ephesians 6:11-18)

Here are some startling statistics I ran across from a recent study on the Effects of Pornography in America:

  • Every 30 minutes a porn film is made in the US
  • Every second, 30,000 people are viewing porn
  • The USA produces 89 % of all pornographic web pages.
  • 42.7 % of internet users view porn.
  • Porn is a 13 billion dollar empire.
  • Porn revenues larger than Google or Microsoft.
  • Average age of initial exposure is age 11.
  • Average of 200,000 American are “porn addicts”
  • Addicts spend 11 hrs or more per week watching porn.

Guys, we are losing the war on sexual integrity. This is indeed an emergency.

Emergency – A serious, unexpected, and often dangerous situation requiring immediate action.

I believe that the Church is facing this kind of situation. We are losing the war on integrity. Men all across this country, in our homes, leading our churches are facing an emergency. Men are being assaulted, and the effects of secret sin are destroying the men in our churches. The book “Every Man’s Challenge” refers to it as internal bleeding.

“Internal bleeding – We have all these happy friendly churches with happy-looking people happily doing work for God, and yet, beneath the surface, nothing is making sense. Husbands aren’t sacrificing for holiness and right living, wives are giving up, and behind every whitewashed wall are dead-men’s bones”

In Christ, we have victory (1 Corinthians 15:57-58) we have been crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20) and we can take comfort knowing that although we may face many struggles during our time here in this world, Christ has overcome (John 16:33). For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world–our faith. (1 John 5:4)

Armor Up. Stand Firm. Pray.

Your Shield

(1 Corinthians. 6:18-20) Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
