A new heart; the best Valentines gift

On our wedding day, Dec. 17th, 2005

Whitt and I both found the end of ourselves and the beginning of a relationship with Christ after our marriage began. I count it a privilege to say I have shared in my husband’s journey from day one, and he with me. I watched in awe and wonder as God took Whitt’s selfish heart of anger, and replaced it with a heart of genuine love and can say with excitement and joy, a miracle was performed in the one whom my soul loves!

Today, being Valentine’s Day, I want to share these verses as well as how God has changed my husband’s heart (and is still changing his heart) to look more like the heart of Christ, using it as a testimony to all who are around him.

Whitt is patient and kind, sometimes I think TOO patient and kind! Christ is the root of his heart. He is so gentle-hearted and humble. His sarcasm and quick jabs have been replaced with a quiet spirit who seeks Gods wisdom in every situation. He wants to be obedient to God. That is honestly what He wants. His own way, now, is truly Gods way.

We're goofballs.

Whitt’s journey and mine involves the need for a lot of forgiveness. Not just toward each other, but to so many people. Once again, the freedom of my sweet husband’s identity in Christ has delivered him from those bondages. Grieving over wrong doings has brought him to his face and truths revealed have caused celebration!

Whitt, in his many roles as husband, son, brother, father, friend, boss and co-worker, has been an example of bearing all things, hoping in all things and enduring all things. His dependence is on His treasure. That is not me, his children, his job or any relationship, but Christ.

I only boast in my savior, who I watched transform my husband. We have shared the floors in prayer over hearts broken, direction needed and our focus fixed. Whitt now posses the fruit of the Holy Spirit and his actions prove the work of the One who converted his soul.

I'm so thankful for him.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Whitt is patient and kind;

Whitt does not envy or boast;

Whitt is not arrogant or rude.

Whitt does not insist on its own way;

Whitt is not irritable or resentful;

Whitt does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.

Whitt bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Whitt is love, because Christ loves thru him, never ends.

    I grew up with Whitt, and I’m so happy to read about his transformation. It is a mighty work that the spirit, when allowed to take root, can perform. I’m proof, too. Blessings to your family, Camillia & Whitt!
